Christie’s of London Art of the Islamic & Indian Worlds

In London on Wednesday 28th October 2020, Christie's Auction House will be holding their Art of the Islamic and Indian Worlds sale, this also includes Oriental Rugs and Carpets. Some of the highlights are an early example of a rare Cairene prayer rug (lot 215) one of only fifteen surviving, and a richly coloured Anatolian Ushak carpet (lot 185) a fine example of weaving in the Ottoman Empire. A fine 18th century Eagle Kazak rug (150), and an impressive large Persian Bakhtiari carpet (lot 168) woven for the Persian Khans with a striking mosaic design, and an unusual pictorial Kerman rug signed by Abu l Qasim, depicting a polo scene, also a beautiful Persian Mohtasham Kashan rug (lot 205). Also in London Sotheby's Auction House will be holding a sale on the 27th October 2020, this sale is dedicated to a single owner L.A. Mayer Museum for Islamic Art Jerusalem. Oriental rugs and carpets of note that are included in this sale, is a important Star Anatolian Ushak carpet, a Polonaise rug, and a rare Azerbaijan garden carpet, Also a spectacular Persian Heriz silk carpet.
