Consul Otto Bernheimer's famous Italian Renaissance-style armchair, which is upholstered with parts of a 16th century small pattern Holbein carpet, sold on November 24th 2015 at Sotheby's London for £100,000. These western Anatolian carpets are known as Holbein carpets due to their appearance in many of the painting by Hans Holbein the Younger, who was the King's painter to King Henry VIII from 1535.

In 1986 the Victoria and Albert Museum London opened a gallery showing a internationally important collection of Japanese art and design. This led the way for museum collections to receive corporate sponsorship. Rugs and Carpets from Distinguished Collections will be auctioned at Sotheby's London on Tuesday 3rd November 2015, during the 'Arts of the Islamic World sales. The anticipated top lot is a fine silk Persian Heriz medallion carpet with poetic inscriptions, estimated between £100,000- £130,000. Also a Persian Khorasan carpet from the Safavid period circa 17th century, estimated between £40,000-£60,000. There is also a highly decorative north Indian (Agra) Jail carpet circa 1900, estimated between £25,000-£40,000.
