Christie’s of London are holding their Art of the Islamic and Indian Worlds Including Oriental Rugs and Carpets Sale

Christie's auction house London will be holding their Art of the Islamic and Indian Worlds Including Oriental Rugs and Carpets sale on 27th October 2022. Some of the highlights of the sale include a rare Royal Mughal pashmina carpet woven for the Indian Emperor Shah Jahan, circa 1650. This carpet is appearing at auction for the first time and was last seen displayed in 1997 at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York. Other highlights are an impressive Ottoman Star Ushak carpet which was previously purchased from Christie's whose specialists had discovered it in a house in France. Also, a rare 16th century Alcaraz carpet and selection of Chinese rugs and carpets from the Ming and Qing dynasties and a fine selection from Persia including Tabriz plus nomadic tribal weavings of the Qashqai region.
