The British embassy in Iran has reopened

Foreign Secretary Philip Hammond attended a ceremony in Tehran to mark the reopening of the British embassy. The reopening comes weeks after Iran reached a deal with six world powers aimed at curbing its nuclear programme. Part of the deal includes the lifting of the embargo on Persian rug and carpets imposed on Iran by the US. Its not clear what effect this will have on the world's Persian rug market or the Oriental rug and carpet business in general, but London's Persian rug dealers are hoping for a positive effect. London's wholesale Oriental rug warehouses have always been well stocked, but the influx of new Persian rugs arriving will be a welcome site. David J.Wilkins Oriental rug brokers of London are looking forward to Britain's new relationship with Iran, and hope it will bring a renewed interest in Persian rugs and Oriental carpets.
