The London Antique Rug and Textile Art Fair

LARTA aka The London Antique Rug and Textile Art Fair will be hosted on the 24th-29th January 2023, situated on the mezzanine above the Decorative Fair at London's Evolution in Battersea Park. This years fair will include both new and returning exhibitors, showing the best selection of the UK's antique and vintage oriental rugs and carpets and associated works of art from around the world. Grogan & Company's Fine Rugs and Textiles Auction will take place on January 29th 2023, and can be previewed at their Boston gallery. The sale will include 275 lots gathered from important collections and various estates. The collection of Hanne and Jeremy Grantham are in the sale which includes an exceptional selection of Suzani embroideries from Uzbekistan and a fine Persian Bijar Garrus gallery carpet, dated 1890 (Lot 15). Over 35 lots are from the George Gilmore Collection which includes a fine selection of Tekke torba and chuval, along with a rare Kyrgyz rug (lot57) and a Khotan rug (lot 137), both circa 1800. The sale includes a number of horse covers from Persian Feraghan and Khamseh, also some fine Sauj rugs and a Beshir cloudband rug circa 1850. Highlights from the collection of Christopher R. Hunt include a fine Persian Senna-Serapi rug and a beautiful Persian Bakhshaish tree of life rug.
