The story of two Armenian rugs

The story of two Armenian rugs, one given to US President Calvin Coolidge, and another recently discovered in a San Diego home. These rugs were given as thanks for the US's first humanitarian aid effort and the tragic fate of Armenians in Turkey 100 years ago. The rug was woven by refugee orphans in Lebanon who had been saved from the 1915 Ottoman massacre, more than 3,000 rugs were made and given to American donors who had paid for the children to be looked after. Armenian rugs and carpets can still be found in London's Oriental rug warehouses, and access to these warehouses can be obtained through a recognized broker such as David J.Wilkins of www.orientalrugexperts.com.
