Henry's Auctioneers of Mutterstadt Germany, are hosting their special sale of oriental rugs and carpets on Saturday 2nd April 2022. The auction includes 241 lots of oriental rugs and carpets from the late 19th century and 20th century, with origins from the Caucasia, China, and Persia. One of the highlights is a particularly fine Persian pictorial Isfahan rug, circa 1930. Carpets that should also be noted, is a group of Caucasian rugs and carpets from a private Italian collection, along with a selection of high quality Persian carpets and a small collection of Asian textiles. Also worth particular mention is a fine Manchester wool Kashan carpet and a rare antique Ningxia temple pillar carpet.

Koller Auctions

On the 26th March 2022, the Austria auction house will be holding their Fine Antique Oriental Rugs and Carpets sale. 239 lots will go under the hammer including some important antique rugs from Turkmen, Persia, Caucasia, China, and Tibet. Also in Zurich Koller auction house will be holding their carpet auction on 31st March 2022. The sale features 82 lots, including lot 1539 a beautiful Antique Persian Mohtasham Kashan in good condition, and a wonderful large French 19th century Savonnerie carpet.

London’s Major Oriental Rug & Carpets Auctions

This month two of London's most prestigious auction houses will be holding their Oriental rug and carpet sales. On the 30th March 2022 Sothebys Auction House will be hosting their Arts of the Islamic World & India sale, that includes Fine Rugs and Carpets. This sale has 16 rug and carpet lots, some of the stand out pieces are Lot 166 a Khotan dragon rug East Turkestan circa 1800, estimated £10,000-£15,000, and Lot 165 a Chinese silk carpet, west China, 19th century estimated £8,000-£12,000. Christies Auction House London will be holding their Art of the Islamic and Indian Worlds sale which includes 72 oriental rugs and carpets lots on 31st March 2022. This sale includes some very important rugs and carpets from the Safavid dynasty, and one in particular which may be one of the most important oriental rugs to be sold at auction for many years. A beautiful Persian Safavid silk and metal thread Polonaise rug, probably woven in Isfahan in the early 17th century size 1.97m x 1.41m, formerly owned by Baron Adolphe Carl von Rothschild and later passed to a prominent German noble family, where it remained since, the estimate is a spectacular £1,000,000-£1.500,000.

Austria Auction Company

The Austria Auction Company, who are the worlds busiest specialist rug auctioneer are holding their second auction of fine antique oriental rugs and carpets sale on 26th March 2022. 239 lots of antique and vintage rugs and carpets will go under the gavel, including over 50 Tibetan and Chinese pile rugs, along with Kilims from Persian and Anatolia, including a good Konya saf fragment (lot 104, est €2-3,000) and over 30 Turkmen rugs and trappings. Other notable pieces is a early 17th century large medallion Ushak carpet (lot 114) also two mid century Bergama rugs perpetuating the regions large pattern Holbein design. Rippon Boswell of Wiesbaden are holding a general rug sale on 19th March 2022. over 200 lots will be offered including Turkmen, Caucasian, Persian, Anatolian, and Chinese rugs and carpets. One of the standout lots is a Erzurum Kilim (lot 111), which is in very good condition. Schuler Auctioneers are holding their Oriental Rugs and Carpets sale on 23rd March 2022 at their Zurich auction house. Highlights include a Semnan rug circa 1910 (lot877), also lot 858 a Persian Senna rug circa 1900.

Nazmiyal Oriental Rug Auction New York

The New York based Nazmiyal auction house will be holding their online oriental rug and carpet sale, concluding on Sunday 13th 2022. The sale offers a vide range of rugs and carpets to suit most pockets, some of the standout pieces are a 28 foot Persian Khorasan carpet (lot4095), a number of beautiful Chinese rugs (lot 4009, 4036. 4071) and a spectacular antique Persian Farahan Sarouk in rich sapphire blues, hot reds, and jewel tones (lot 4162 starting bid $10,000). Also some stunning Persian Heriz Serapi carpets (lot 4015, 4060, 4066) and some rare 17th century Ottoman textiles (lot 4050, 4051, and 4053). In Milan, Viscontea Casa d' Aste auction house will be holding their Oriental Carpets & Textiles sale on 15th March 2022. Noteworthy pieces include a Persian Bakhshaiesh rug dated 1301 (1883) an Indian Agra carpet dated 1913, an Ikat silk textile, a Qashqai rug, a Caucasian Kuba Kilim and a silk Heriz carpet.

Skinners of Boston will be holding their timed online auction of fine oriental rugs and carpets, which will end on 10th March 2022 at 7:00pm. The sale includes 266 lots of antique rugs, carpets and textiles from the Caucasus region, Persia, Anatolia and Central Asia. There are several fine room sized carpets, including lot 1030 a beautiful Persian Heriz Serapi rug circa 1900.

Material Culture & Bruun Rasmussen Auction’s Oriental Rug & Carpet Sales

On 28th February 2022, Material Culture will be holding their Oriental Rugs from American Estates sale in Philadelphia. The auction includes 323 lots of oriental rugs and carpets, among them are antique Caucasian, Persian, Chinese, Turkmen, Shasavan, Balouch, and Anatolian rugs and carpets. Bruun Rasmussen Auctioneers will be holding their spring Antique Carpets and Rugs Auction on 2nd March 2022, one of the highlights is a rare Polonaise silk and metal thread rug from the early 17th century, also a beautiful late 19th century Serapi medallion carpet from northwest Persia, a unique 19th century Chinese carpet with dragon motifs, a pair of 17th century and 18th century tapestries and an interesting pair of Caucasian rugs, as well as a number of large decorative carpets.

London Antique Rug and Textile Fair

The London Antique Rug and Textile Fair (LARTA) will take place at Battersea Park from 25th-30th January 2022. Eighteen dealers from around the UK and Europe will offer an eclectic mix of antique rugs, carpets and textiles. The Austrian Auction Company will be holding their Collector Rugs sale on 22nd January 2022. The sale comprises of 241 lots of antique rugs, carpets and textiles, some with no reserve. included in the sale are a number of Kazak rugs and other south Caucasian rugs, along with Turkmen trappings and a small group of Chinese and Tibetan rugs. Hans Homm of Frankfurt will be holding their sale of antique tribal rugs and decorative carpets on 22nd January 2022. One highlights is lot 1901, a 300 year old tapestry featuring a Chinese scene. Grogan & Company will be holding their Fine Rugs and Carpets Auction on 30th January 2022, viewing is by appointment at their gallery in Boston. The sale incudes more than 170 lots from private collections and various estates.

Cheffins Auction House Cambridge

Cheffins Auction House in Cambridge will be offering over 220 lots of Nepalese, Bhutanese and Tibetan rugs and art from a well known collection. The sale will take place over two days on the 8th & 9th December 2021, The sale includes rugs, textiles, shawls and ancient lama and Shaman costume, one of the highlights is a rare carved wooden masks of Krodha from Southern Tibet, which has been carbon dated AD1430-AD1620 (estimate £25,000-£35,000). Bukowskis Auctions of Stockholm will be holding their Important Winter Sale, including 65 carpets and textiles, the sale highlights are nine tapestries dating from the 16th to the 18th century, the most important being the Feuilles de choux, woven in Flanders in the late 16th century. The sale also includes Swedish folk textiles, a large Savonnerie carpet, a Moroccan rug and many antique rugs and carpets from Turkey, Persia, Caucasia, India and China,
