Sotheby's auction house in London will be holding their Arts of the Islamic World & India sale on 31st March 2021. The sale will a number of important pieces including a Safavid niche rug in wool on a silk foundation, inlaid with silver metal thread, from the so-called Salting or Top Kapi group (lot 138). From a private European collection The Athens Niche rug and from a US private collector a early 17th century Marquand Animal rug (lot 162), this is a rare example of Persian Isfahan weaving which depicts wild animals and flowering plants. From the same collector a fine 17th century Persian Isfahan rug (lot 161), and an 18th century northwest Persian rug with figural design (lot 164). Other highlights of the sale are a yellow ground Transylvanian rug with green ground gothic boarders, and a number of early Anatolian and Caucasian rugs, plus a good Bokhara Suzani (lot 183).

The Italian auction house Wannenes will be holding their first web-only antique rug, carpet and textile sale, from 15th-30th March 2021. The sale includes a fine selection of rare oriental rugs and carpets one example is a large Chinese Beijing carpet with an interesting design (lot 82, estimate €7,000-€9,000). The sale also includes a beautiful Caucasian Kazak prayer rug circa 1873 (lot 52 estimate €5,000-€7,000), and a fine Turkish silk Hereke rug dating from 1950.

On the 8th March 2021, In Copenhagen Bruun Rasmussen Auctioneers will be holding a sale that includes a limited number of classical old and antique Oriental rugs and carpets. The standout piece is a fine weave Aubusson tapestry attributed to Antoine Grellet. The auction also includes a number of vintage Swedish textiles from the 20th century. Rippon Boswell auctions of Wiesbaden will be holding their general rug sale on the 13th March 2021. The auction includes 218 lots of antique rugs and carpets, among them Chinese rugs, Caucasian rugs, Turkmen rugs, Anatolian rugs, and Persian carpets. Nazmiyal Auctions has announced that it will be holding a Oriental rug and carpet sale on the 21st March 2021. There will be over 180 lots of antique and vintage oriental rugs and carpets, mostly on behalf of a prominent New York rug dealer. Many types of rug and carpet weaving is represented including Persian, Turkish and Caucasian. And finally the Austria Auction Company will be holding their next sale of fine oriental and antique rugs and carpets, on March 27th 2021, at Palais Breuner in Vienna.

The includes antique oriental rugs and carpets from various estates and the Nazmiyal collection. The auction includes an impressive collection of room size carpets from Persia, Turkey, India, and china, also tribal pieces from Turkmenistan and Persia, beautiful Caucasian rugs and 20th century Swedish kilims and Moroccan rugs round out the sale. One of the stand out pieces in the sale is lot 8170, a large 16th century Cairene carpet from Egypt with an estimate of $30,000-$50,000. The Austria Auction Company are holding their Fine Antique Oriental Rugs & Carpets sale XXIII on the 30th January 2021 at their Vienna sale rooms. The auction includes 189 antique rugs and carpets including a number of large collectable, Caucasian, Anatolian and Turkmen rugs and carpets. Grogan & Company will be hosting their Fine Rugs & Carpets Auction on the 31st January 2021 at their Boston sale rooms. The sale includes 170 lots of oriental rugs and carpets, and among them the collection of the late John Collins, as well as a fine selection of Caucasian and Anatolian pieces.

Bukowskis auction house will be holding their important winter sale on 11th-12th December 2020 at Stockholm Sweden. The sale includes an impressive selection of rugs, carpets and textiles from Sweden, Flanders, Turkey, Persia, Turkmenistan and China. One of the highlights is a silk Kum Kapi rug with metal brocade from Istanbul (circa 1910) Lot 266, along with many other fine antique oriental rugs and carpets.

Bruun Rasmussen Auctioneers will be holding their antique carpet and rug auction on 4th December 2020. The sale will include a small number of antique and decorative rugs and carpets, one of the highlights is a very fine Mohtasham Kashan carpet in soft colours. Rippon Boswell carpet auctions will be hosting their sale of 246 lots on 5th December 2020, the auction includes antique rugs and carpets ,textiles and among them Caucasian, Turkmen, Anatolian, Persian and Chinese rugs.

Olympia Auctions London will be holding their next sale of European and Asian works of art on Wednesday 18th November 2020. The sale consists of 475 lots, including a fine collection of Islamic tiles from a property of a European collector, also various oriental rugs and carpets. Bonhams London Auctions will be holding their Fine Decorative Arts sale on 25th November 2020, the auction includes a limited number of Flemish tapestries, rugs, and carpets.

In London on Wednesday 28th October 2020, Christie's Auction House will be holding their Art of the Islamic and Indian Worlds sale, this also includes Oriental Rugs and Carpets. Some of the highlights are an early example of a rare Cairene prayer rug (lot 215) one of only fifteen surviving, and a richly coloured Anatolian Ushak carpet (lot 185) a fine example of weaving in the Ottoman Empire. A fine 18th century Eagle Kazak rug (150), and an impressive large Persian Bakhtiari carpet (lot 168) woven for the Persian Khans with a striking mosaic design, and an unusual pictorial Kerman rug signed by Abu l Qasim, depicting a polo scene, also a beautiful Persian Mohtasham Kashan rug (lot 205). Also in London Sotheby's Auction House will be holding a sale on the 27th October 2020, this sale is dedicated to a single owner L.A. Mayer Museum for Islamic Art Jerusalem. Oriental rugs and carpets of note that are included in this sale, is a important Star Anatolian Ushak carpet, a Polonaise rug, and a rare Azerbaijan garden carpet, Also a spectacular Persian Heriz silk carpet.

The month of October hosts the most Oriental rug and carpet auctions, and this October is no exception. The Austria Auction Company is holding a sale of fine antique oriental rugs, at their Palais Breuner rooms in Vienna on Saturday 24th October 2020. The sale offers a fine selection from Europe's collectors and grand houses, including a rare single medallion Eagle or Sunburst Kazak rug, this design is attributed to the Chelaberd in the southeast Caucasus, (lot 68 estimated €25,000-€35,000). Dorotheum will auction almost 240 rugs, carpets and textiles at their Vienna showroom on Monday 21st October 2020. Highlights are a fine Persian Kerman Lavar rug with inscriptions (lot 91), a large group of fine Persian carpets in various sizes, a selection of Caucasian rugs, a rare Ningxia tiger rug (lot 172), a Kashgar silk carpet, an Ivory Anatolian Ushak carpet, and a very striking Persian Serapi carpet. Stuttgart's Nagel Auction's are holding their sale of Collector's Rugs & Carpets, Tribal & Oriental Art sale on Friday 23rd October 2020, inccded in the sale are a number of collectors rugs,carpets and textiles from a private German collection. Over in the US Material Culture's sale of fine decorative and collectible antique oriental rugs, will take place on Wednesday 21st October 2020, they have 299 lots of Persian carpets from American estates, highlights include a 17th century Spanish Alcaraz rug (lot 15 estimated $3,000-$5,000) a 17th century Anatolian Ushak carpet (lot 22 estimated $7,000-$10,000) an early 19th century Chinese metal thread rug, along with outstanding Persian room-size carpets from Serapi, Bakshaish, Ziegler, Ferahan, Tabriz, and a mansion size Bidjar carpet.

On Thursday 15th October 2020 Nazmiyal auctions will be holding their fine Oriental rugs and carpets sale.
