London’s Autumn Oriental Rug and Carpet Auction’s

Art of the Islamic and Indian Worlds including Oriental Rugs and Carpets auction will be held at London's Christies sale room King Street on 28th October 2021. For the first time at auction the sale includes the 16th century Damascus compartment rug, a Star Ushak rug, a small medallion Ushak, a Lotto boarder fragments and a Bird Ushak carpet fragment and a number of richly coloured prayer rugs from central Anatolia. While some of the weavings are just fragments, such as the 17th century Dragon carpet fragment, they tell use how and where the rugs and carpets were woven. The sale also incudes two 17th century Lotto rugs, and an unusual 17th century Ottoman Kilim. among the fine Persian weaving is a beautiful green ground Heriz carpet, and a blue silk Heriz prayer rug. Sotheby's Auction House London is holding their Art of the Islamic World including fine Oriental Rugs and Carpets on 27th October 2021. Included in the sale is a Important early 17th century Persian Safavid Dynasty silk and metal thread Polonaise rug.
